Founded nearly 50 years ago, in 1976, Oxfam-Magasins du monde is a movement made up of citizens committed to building socio-economic justice by tackling inequalities and injustices in a structural and global way. Our mission is to promote a model of social and solidarity-based economy and to guarantee every individual the right to a dignified life through two main levers:
- Fair trade;
- Second-hand.
As a non-profit association (ASBL), our unique structure combines the strength of an NGO with the dynamism of a commercial organization. With a network of 2,000 adult volunteers spread across 63 local teams in Wallonia and Brussels, as well as a network of 800 young people from 82 French-speaking schools involved in the Oxfam Youth Worldshops project, we form a democratic community supported by a team of 70 employees.
